This title encapsulate a lot of changes in my life.

Leaving Mercury\HP

After less than a year, I had to make one of the hardest choices in my life and decided to resign my position at Mercury after receiving an opportunity to join a baby(we're looking for offices now) startup named Semingo. Mercury is a great home for developers; The quality of the people there is beyond anything I've seen in the last ~8 years, the projects are challenging, the clients are demanding and the amount of investments the management put in the teams is unimaginable. No wonder why Mercury was bought for the huge price of 4.5 billion dollars by HP. Putting the clients first, hire great managers, non-stop training and fetching the best programmers available is a bullet-proof path for success.

The hardest part was leaving my friends there, but I know that I'll keep in touch with them. I said goodbye to the guys in a small gathering so I want to leave it private, but I do want to thank you all again for sharing your life, your ideas and challenges with me:
Hagay, Number, Big Guy, Jersey, Nicos, Rico, Master Jedi(Doron), Moti, Jonit, Chonga, Maya, Mininberg, Alon, Chik Chik, Abergel, Oleg, Mizrahi, Ravit, Sefi, Lidor, Zini, Arie, Ifat and the rest of the guys there(I hope I did not forget anyone :|) - goodbye and good luck. I love you all.

Joining Semingo

This was an offer that I just could not say no to. The project is inspiring, the scale and size are unimaginable, the team is built from a group of young(avg. ~25) "hackers"(my nickname for highly talented workaholic developers), great technology, great management. All the right cards. In addition, and this one is crucial - I'm 23 years old so this is a great(maybe the only) time to work 14-18h a day without paying alimony\psychotherapist. I'm sure that it will be very interesting ride.

At the moment, I can't say much about the stuff we're doing except that it's a very challenging web 2.0 project.
I promise to publish more about the team, work methodologies(agile\scrum) and technical experience later on...

Leaving my home, renting an apartment:

I'm looking for an apartment in Herzelia\Herzelia Pitouch, close to the our future office. If you know a guy that knows a guy - please send me an email! ;)

Gosh, it's going to be one hell of a year!

Boogie,

We only worked together for a few months, but I feel very fortunate and privileged to be given the chance to know you, my good friend. Although I’m almost old enough to be your father, I can say without a shred of doubt, you have been one of my wisest teachers. You are exceptionally affable, knowledgeable, intelligent, talented and enthusiastic, and even on the darkest most frustrating days, you managed to create this positive vibe around you, making the rest of us believe everything is within our reach.

Good luck on your new and exciting journey. Knowing you, I’m sure you’ll succeed in every path you’ll choose to travel. You are a young voyager and everything is still within your grasp, so shed old skid and prepare to be reborn where beautiful design patterns decorate exotic data structures. Seize the day. Own the web. Conquer the world. Leave no survivors. Embark on this new adventure of yours, raise your sail and strive for the horizon - your destiny awaits you.

Thanks for all the memories.
Already missing you,
Uri Kalish & the PC clan.

Kalish - damn, you almost made me cry. for real. It was MY pleasure working shoulder to shoulder with you on some crazy bits&bytes. I will miss our daily converstaions, I hope we could still have those over a beer. btw - it's still not too late to prepare a real-size poster of yourself so I can put it in the office you know... Thanks for everything Number.

Good luck Kiddo.

Remember that continuously working 14hr/day can fail any guy, even a Super Hacker like you. Make sure you take some time off every now and then, so you'd be able to keep burning the keyboard like there's no tomorrow without losing your mind.

I'm currently in the middle of a big change myself (will post about it in the next few weeks), so I totally understand the place you're at. Moving from a great place to another is a tough call any day.

btw, as it'd be your first rented flat, you should know what things to watch out for when you look at a designated place:
a. Make sure the shower has a decent water-flow.
b. Make sure the air-conditioning is sufficient, and that it's engine is not located just outside your bedroom window.
c. Make sure that the toilets flushes out and all the stuff is gone.
d. A nice and non-Nudnik landlord is a plus

Or to put this stuff in a language you'd understand:

a. shower is Decent
b. (airCondition.Power >= Settings.Default.SufficientAirConditioning) && Assert.That(airCondition.Place, Is.Not.LocatedAt(Places.Bedroom.Window.Outside)
c. Toilet : IDisposable
d. LandLord : Person, IAmANiceGuy, IAmNotANudnik

My Boogie,
I will never forget the first time we met….
It took me couple of minutes to see that you are a sweet guy, couple of hours to understand that you a Super Hacker and it took me about a week to realize
what a good friend you are…
No one managed to get into my heart in such a short period of time…
Even though you have been in mercury for a relatively "short time",
your impact was unbelievable!!!
It was a hell of a ride working with you my friend and I hope our professional
paths will come across again…
I would like to wish you and your friends in Semingo good luck in your new journey and to tell your friends in Semingo that they are lucky because if you have a Boogie in your team, success will come sooner then you think.
Don't forget to rest once in a while don't burn you're self out and if we are on that issue, you remember my invitation….
Thank you for every thing my brother,
We are missing you a lot… (Urika doesn't stop crying every morning),
Hagay Avisar.

Hey man !

Good luck in the new place !
I'm sure a "hacker" like you don't even need luck , but anyway it's good to have luck with you .

Just remember something important...
The fact that you're 23 doesn't mean that you have to be a workaholic .
There are much more important things in life than work .
23 is a great age and like every other age it never comes back ,
so just remember that once in a while.

But you know - after all you do what you choose and like to do ,
and that's important too - to do what you like .

Again .. Good Luck !!!
Alex
